Jake’s Story of Recovery: “It is absolutely worth it.”

Jake grew up in a large and loving family, always did well academically, and had a great group of friends. He started experimenting with drugs and alcohol at a young age and vividly remembers thinking that he finally felt normal for once in his life. Things progressed through high school and got significantly worse during his six years of pharmacy school, but he was still able to graduate, land his dream job as a pharmacist, and get engaged to his high school girlfriend. Everything seemed to be going great, but it all changed when he was given access to an unlimited supply of prescription drugs at work.

Watch Jake’s video to hear his journey and learn what it takes to achieve sustained recovery. Today, he is active within the recovery community- speaking to audiences large and small across the US about his experience and the importance of MAT- and serves as the Principal of Clinical Product Strategy for SUD at axialHealthcare. He is also the Co-Founder of an outpatient treatment program called the Recovery Research Network based in Atlantis, Florida.

This is the third video in our National Recovery Month series. Watch Andy’s story of recovery here and learn about Sara’s journey here.
