As you know, National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is an important event that happens twice a year in efforts to reduce availability of unused medication. The next community event is April 27, 2024.
The DEA emphasizes a new approach to the concept by starting the 2024 Every Day is Drug Take-back Day initiative. This ongoing opportunity encourages proper medication disposal year-round with the goal of preventing misuse, abuse, and environmental harm. While we encourage that providers share this information with patients on any prescription or over the counter medications, the safe management and disposal of controlled substances is even more imperative. With the historic success of the biannual National Prescription Take Back Days, we are hopeful that with the new initiative communities will have even greater participation.
